  • 2 pounds round steak Cut into serving-sized pieces.
  • 1 cup flour For coating the steak.
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil For browning the steak.

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Add for flavor.
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces) For sauce.
  • 1 cup beef broth Add more if needed.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce For flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste For seasoning.
  • Fresh parsley for garnish For serving.

Preparation

  • Cut the round steak into serving-sized pieces.
  • Season the flour with salt and pepper. Coat the steak pieces in the flour mixture.

Cooking

  • Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the steak pieces and brown them on both sides.
  • Once browned, add the sliced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.
  • Cover the skillet and let it cook on low heat for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender. Stir occasionally and add more broth if needed.

Notes

Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the delicious gravy. Garnish with fresh parsley. Use a meat mallet to tenderize the steak for extra tenderness. Adjust seasoning as per taste and add cornstarch for a thicker gravy if desired.
