Why Make This Recipe

French Dip Sliders are a tasty twist on the classic French dip sandwich. They’re perfect for parties, game days, or just a cozy family dinner. With juicy roast beef, melty cheese, and buttery rolls, they make for a satisfying bite. Plus, dipping them in rich beef broth adds to the fun!

How to Make French Dip Sliders

Ingredients:

  • 1 package King’s Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls (yellow banner on package)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon cream-style horseradish (I use Inglehoffer—see note)
  • 1/2 pound provolone or Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup caramelized onions
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, plus additional for garnish, if desired
  • 2 cups beef broth or stock
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large garlic clove, minced
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional, see note)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1-2 teaspoons Better Than Bouillon Reduced Sodium Roasted Beef Base (if needed, see note)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme (or 1/4 teaspoon dried)
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper (added 1/4 tsp pepper)

Directions:

  1. Prep the Rolls: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls in half. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise and horseradish together. Spread this mixture on the inside of the rolls.

  2. Make the Sliders: Layer half of the sliced cheese on the bottom half of the rolls. Add the deli roast beef, followed by caramelized onions, and top with the remaining cheese. Place the top halves of the rolls on the sliders. In a small bowl, mix melted butter with Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, parsley, and some salt and pepper. Brush this mixture over the top of the rolls.

  3. Make the Jus: In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant. Stir in the flour if using, then gradually whisk in the beef broth. Add Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer until slightly thickened.

How to Serve French Dip Sliders

Cut the sliders into individual pieces and serve them warm. Don’t forget to serve the beef jus in small bowls for dipping! Sprinkle some chopped parsley on top for an extra touch and flavor.

How to Store French Dip Sliders

If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They can last for 2-3 days. To reheat, pop them in the oven until warmed through, and enjoy!

Tips to Make French Dip Sliders

  • For extra flavor, let the roast beef marinate in the Worcestershire sauce for a while before assembling.
  • You can also add sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers for added texture and taste.
  • If you want gooey cheese, cover the sliders with foil during baking and remove it for the last few minutes to let the cheese melt beautifully.

Variation

You can easily switch up the type of meat by using turkey or even grilled vegetables for a vegetarian option. Change the cheese to cheddar or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.
