Preparation

  • Peel and cut the potatoes into chunks.
  • Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender.

Cooking

  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter and add minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  • Add the garlic butter, heavy cream, salt, and pepper to the potatoes.
  • Mash everything together until creamy and smooth.

Serving

  • Serve warm in a large bowl, optionally topped with extra butter or chopped parsley.

Notes

Allow leftover mashed potatoes to cool before storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days, or freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to a month. For a cheesy twist, add cheddar or cream cheese, or mix in sour cream and fresh herbs.
