Ingredients
  

For the Dry Rub

  • 2 tablespoons Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Smoked paprika

For the Ribs

  • 4 pounds Beef ribs Choose ribs with good marbling for better flavor.
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce Optional, for brushing during the last 30 minutes.
  • 2 cups Wood chips for smoking Hickory or oak recommended.

Preparation

  • Preheat your smoker or grill to 225°F (107°C).
  • In a bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika to create a dry rub.
  • Season the beef ribs generously with the dry rub, ensuring all sides are covered.
  • If using, soak wood chips in water for about 30 minutes and then place them in the smoker.

Smoking

  • Place the ribs in the smoker or on the grill, bone side down.
  • Smoke the ribs for about 6-8 hours, or until they reach an internal temperature of 203°F (95°C) and are tender.
  • Optional: Brush with barbecue sauce during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • Remove the ribs from the smoker, let them rest for 10-15 minutes, slice, and serve.

Notes

Serve Texas BBQ beef ribs warm with classic sides like coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread. For storing, wrap leftovers tightly and refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or smoker.
