Meatloaf Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound bacon, chopped Cooked until crispy
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 each egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (for topping)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • In the same skillet, sauté the onions and mushrooms until softened.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, cooked bacon, sautéed onions and mushrooms, Swiss cheese, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it into a baking dish.
  • Spread ketchup over the top of the meatloaf.

Cooking

  • Bake for 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding your favorite spices like Italian seasoning or paprika. Be careful not to overmix the meatloaf mixture; this can make it tough. For a crunchier topping, add crushed crackers or additional cheese on top during the last 15 minutes of baking.
