  • 1/4 cup water Used to dilute the marinade.
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar Adds tanginess.
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (optional) For a sweeter taste.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar Balances the salty flavor.
  • 1 whole green onion For garnish, optional.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with water.
  • Bring to a boil, then simmer for 7 minutes.
  • Remove the eggs and cool them in an ice bath.

Marinade

  • In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, mirin, and sugar until the sugar dissolves.

Marinating

  • Once the eggs are cool, gently peel them.
  • Place the peeled eggs in a container and pour the marinade over them.
  • Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Serving

  • When ready to serve, slice the eggs in half, garnish with chopped green onion if desired, and enjoy!

For optimal flavor, enjoy the marinated eggs within a few days. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
