  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature) Make sure your eggs are at room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup Use high-quality pure maple syrup for richer flavor.
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole or non-dairy) Almond or oat milk can be used for a non-dairy version.
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (cooled) Allow to cool to avoid cooking the eggs.

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs, maple syrup, milk, and melted butter until smooth.
  • Gently combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients; stir until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared dish and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown; a toothpick inserted should come out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Glazing

  • Mix powdered sugar with milk for the glaze and drizzle it over the cooled bars.

Notes

These bars can also be cut into smaller pieces for sharing. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
