Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • Green food coloring Adjust to achieve desired color.

Decorations

  • Decorative icing and sprinkles For decorating the baked cookies.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt until well combined.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients to form a dough.
  • Divide the dough into halves. Add green food coloring to one half until you achieve your desired color.
  • Roll out the dough and cut into shamrock shapes using a cookie cutter. Place the shapes on a baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are golden.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before decorating them with icing and sprinkles.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to three months.
