Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water chestnuts, julienned
  • 4 cups butter lettuce leaves

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add ground chicken and cook until browned with caramelized bits, crumbing as needed.
  • Stir in garlic, onion, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger, and sriracha.
  • Cook 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  • Add water chestnuts and cook 1-2 minutes to retain crunch.
  • Divide mixture into butter lettuce cups and serve.

Notes

Ground turkey or firm tofu work as halal alternatives for chicken.
hoisin sauce brands vary; choose a non-alcoholic variety if needed.
Serve with optional sides like steamed rice or sesame seeds.
