Oven Fried Feta Rolls with Chili Honey

Ingredients
  

For the Feta Filling

  • 8 oz feta cheese
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs For topping
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 large egg Used for binding

For the Roll

  • 4 sheets phyllo dough Handle carefully to prevent drying
  • ½ cup chili honey For drizzling
  • as needed olive oil spray For spraying phyllo
  • as needed fresh parsley For garnish, optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, crumble the feta cheese. Add the dried oregano, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Mix well until combined.

Assembly

  • Lay out one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean working surface. Lightly spray it with olive oil. Place another sheet on top and spray again.
  • Take a spoonful of the feta mixture and place it at one end of the layered phyllo dough. Roll it tightly to form a cylinder and tuck in the ends to seal. Place seam-side down on the baking tray.
  • Repeat the previous step for all the sheets. Once finished, brush each roll with olive oil and sprinkle panko breadcrumbs over the top for extra crunch.

Baking

  • Place the tray in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
  • Remove the rolls from the oven and drizzle generously with chili honey. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Handle the phyllo dough carefully; keep unused sheets covered with a damp cloth. For added flavor, mix in chopped herbs to the feta filling. For extra crispiness, bake on a wire rack instead of directly on the tray.
