  • 1 large Egg Optional for binding; can substitute with flaxseed meal for vegan.
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil For brushing on cabbage.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the ground beef or turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and the egg (if using) until well combined.
  • Cut the cabbage into thick rounds, about 1 inch wide. Remove the core from the cabbage.
  • Place the cabbage rounds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush both sides of the cabbage with olive oil.
  • Spoon the meat mixture onto the cabbage rounds, pressing down gently to form a burger shape.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the meat is cooked through and the cabbage is tender.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve these cabbage burgers warm with your favorite dipping sauce or toppings. You can add fresh herbs, sliced tomatoes, or avocados for extra flavor. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. To reheat, place them in an oven or microwave until warmed through. Make sure to cut the cabbage in thick rounds to prevent it from breaking apart during baking. Experiment with different ground meats or plant-based proteins for a unique taste. Adjust spices according to taste preferences.
