Ingredients
  

Noodles

  • 8 oz wide rice noodles or lo mein noodles Cook according to the package directions.

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce Optional.
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water To thicken the sauce.
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes Optional, for spice.
  • 3 green onions chopped For garnish.

Preparation

  • Cook the noodles according to the package directions. Once they’re tender, drain well and set aside.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce (if using), beef broth, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water until smooth. Pour into skillet and stir continuously until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Add cooked noodles and chopped green onions to the skillet. Toss until thoroughly combined and coated with the sauce.

Serving

  • Serve hot, garnished with extra chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

For extra nutrition, add vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas. Adjust sweetness by modifying the amount of brown sugar as per your taste.
