  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced Slice against the grain for tenderness.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For frying the beef.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 cup green onions, chopped For garnish and flavor.

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce Use gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Adjust to taste for sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine sliced flank steak with cornstarch and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.

Cooking

  • Add the beef and cook until browned and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Add garlic and ginger, and sauté for an additional minute.
  • In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil.
  • Pour the sauce over the beef and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Stir in green onions and cook for another minute.

Notes

Serve hot over rice or noodles. You can top with extra green onions or sesame seeds. Storing leftovers: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze after cooling completely.
