Ingredients
  

For the Filling

  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened) Make sure it is really soft for a smooth filling.
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapenos (fresh or pickled) For less heat, use fewer jalapenos or opt for mild ones.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Can add spices like cumin or paprika for extra flavor.

For the Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg for egg wash Beaten for brushing on pastry.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, sliced jalapenos, and garlic powder until well combined.
  • Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick, and cut it into strips.
  • Spoon some of the filling onto one half of each strip. Fold the other half over, press down gently, and then twist each strip.
  • Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffy.

Notes

Jalapeno Popper Twists are best served warm and fresh from the oven. You can pair them with a dipping sauce like ranch or sour cream.
