Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Spices

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic; sauté until softened.

Cooking

  • Stir in kidney beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer for 20-30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Serving

  • Serve hot over hot dogs.

Notes

For a spicier chili, add chopped jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce. You can use ground turkey or chicken instead of ground beef for a lighter version. Letting the chili simmer longer helps develop deeper flavors, so don’t rush this step.
