Cake Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a Twinkie pan.
  • In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, adding vanilla.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
  • Fill Twinkie molds about halfway and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let cool before removing from the mold.

Filling

  • For filling, whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Pipe the cream into the cool sponge cakes using a filling tip.

Notes

Store your homemade Twinkies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week.
