Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound kielbasa, sliced Use pre-cooked or smoked for convenience.
  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced Slice evenly for consistent cooking.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to experiment with different cheeses.
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish Optional for presentation.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the sliced kielbasa until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream, heavy cream, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth.

Assembly

  • In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  • Top with half of the sautéed kielbasa, half of the onion and garlic mixture, and half of the cheddar cheese.
  • Repeat by adding the remaining potatoes, kielbasa, onions, and garlic. Pour the remaining cream mixture over the layers and finish with the rest of the cheddar cheese on top.

Baking

  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, straight from the oven paired with a green salad or crusty bread. If storing leftovers, let it cool completely before placing in an airtight container in the refrigerator where it can last for 3-4 days. Reheat when ready to serve.
