Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.Brownie Layer: Melt butter and chocolate together in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir in sugar, then whisk in eggs and vanilla. Fold in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined. Spread into prepared pan.Cookie Layer: Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir in chocolate chips.Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over brownie batter and gently press down.Bake for 30–35 minutes, until edges are set and center has moist crumbs when tested with a toothpick.Cool completely before cutting into squares.
