This French Onion Meatloaf combines traditional meatloaf flavors with the rich taste of French onion soup, topped with melted mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients
  

Meatloaf Mixture

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • 1 cup French onion soup
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 whole onion, caramelized Sauté until golden brown for maximum flavor.
  • 1 whole egg
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Can experiment with other cheeses like cheddar or gouda.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, French onion soup, breadcrumbs, milk, caramelized onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix until just combined.
  • Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.

Baking

  • Bake for 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  • During the last 10 minutes of baking, sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top and allow to melt.

Serving

  • Let rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

To store leftovers, cool completely and wrap tightly or store in an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
