  • 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth Use homemade broth for better flavor; gluten-free if needed.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.
  • optional Fresh herbs for garnish Such as parsley or thyme.

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  • Stir in the rice, coating it with the butter and caramelized onions.
  • Pour in the broth and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Fluff with a fork and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For better flavor, use homemade broth. Stir the onions often while they caramelize to prevent burning. Experiment with adding cheese for extra creaminess.
