Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour Substitute with gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
  • 1/4 cup Sugar Feel free to adjust to your taste.
  • 2 teaspoons Instant Yeast Always opt for fresh yeast for best results.
  • 1/2 cup Milk Use lukewarm whole milk, or almond/oat milk for dairy-free options.
  • 1 large Egg Can be replaced with unsweetened applesauce for a vegan version.
  • 3 tablespoons Butter Substitute with coconut oil for a dairy-free option.

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream Both homemade and store-bought are acceptable.
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar Adjust to your preference.
  • Condensed Milk Optional for added sweetness in the filling.

Finishing Touch

  • Powdered Sugar For a sweet finishing touch on the donuts.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and instant yeast.
  • Warm the milk until it is lukewarm. Add the milk and egg into the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
  • Add in the melted butter and knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  • Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.
  • Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Filling and Frying

  • While the donuts are rising again, prepare the filling by whipping the heavy cream with sugar until fluffy.
  • Optionally, mix in condensed milk for extra sweetness.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot. Once hot, carefully fry each donut until golden brown on both sides.
  • Remove the donuts and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  • Once cooled, poke a hole in each donut and fill with the cream mixture. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

These donuts are best enjoyed fresh and warm. Store any leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer-safe bag.
