Main ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure the cream cheese is very soft for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dark chocolate, melted You can substitute with milk or white chocolate if desired.
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract Add more for a stronger peppermint flavor.
  • to taste Crushed peppermint candies for coating Can substitute with sprinkles or crushed nuts.

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract. Mix until smooth.
  • Shape the mixture into small balls and place on a baking sheet.
  • Freeze the balls for about 30 minutes until firm.

Coating

  • Roll each ball in the melted dark chocolate, then in crushed peppermint candies.
  • Chill again until set.

Serving

  • Serve and enjoy! These truffles can be served on their own or as part of a dessert platter.

Notes

Store any leftover truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will stay fresh for about a week. You can freeze them for longer storage, just separate the layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
