Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound Shrimp (Fresh or fully thawed frozen for best flavor and texture)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (Can substitute with butter for richer taste)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (Adds richness; optional to use extra olive oil)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (Fresh minced is essential; garlic powder as a quick alternative)
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth or White Wine (Vegetable broth works for a lighter version)
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream (Half-and-half for a lighter alternative)
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese (Nutty flavor; can substitute with pecorino or nutritional yeast)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning (Fresh herbs can brighten the dish)
  • ½ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (Adjust based on spice preference)
  • to taste Paprika
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Instructions

Cooking

  • Start by heating the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and opaque.
  • Pour in the chicken broth (or white wine) and bring it to a simmer.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and mix well.
  • Add the Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until the sauce thickens slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
  • Serve hot with your favorite side, such as rice or pasta.

Notes

For extra depth of flavor, consider adding a splash of lemon juice right before serving. Customize the spice level by adjusting the red pepper flakes or adding fresh chopped chili. Fresh shrimp works best for this dish, but frozen shrimp can also do the job if thawed properly. You can add vegetables like spinach or cherry tomatoes to the skillet for extra nutrition and flavor. For a lower carb option, serve the shrimp over zucchini noodles instead of traditional pasta.
