Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 3-4 lb chuck roast
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 12 oz beef broth plus additional for mixing
  • 1 package Au Jus mix
  • cups beef broth
  • 6 sub rolls
  • Provolone cheese for topping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Season the chuck roast on all sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the roast until browned on all sides.
  • Transfer the seared roast to your crockpot and pour 1½ cups of beef broth over it.

Cooking

  • In the same skillet, sauté onions and garlic until soft.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, remaining beef broth, and Au Jus mix. Simmer the mixture briefly.
  • Pour the onion and broth mixture over the chuck roast in the crockpot.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  • Once cooked, shred the meat with tongs or forks.

Assembly

  • Assemble sandwiches with shredded meat and provolone cheese on sub rolls.
  • Place the assembled sandwiches in the oven briefly to melt the cheese.

Notes

Serve your French dip sandwiches hot, with a side of the flavorful au jus for dipping. You can also add a side of chips or a simple salad for a complete meal. To store leftovers, place the shredded meat in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat by thawing in the refrigerator overnight and warming up on the stove or microwave.
