  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Wrapper

  • 12 small corn tortillas You can use flour tortillas, but they will have a different texture.
  • Oil for frying

Toppings

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine shredded chicken, cheese, onion, salsa, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat tortillas in a dry skillet until warm and pliable.
  • Place 2-3 tablespoons of the filling in each tortilla, roll tightly, and secure with a toothpick if needed.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Fry the taquitos in batches until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  • Serve taquitos hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Make sure to warm the tortillas before filling them to prevent cracking. Use chicken from a rotisserie or leftovers for quicker preparation. For spice, add jalapeños or hot sauce to the filling.
