Dough Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed Make sure it's warm to activate yeast
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Fillings

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup vanilla custard Store-bought or homemade

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the flour mixture.
  • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, then let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll the dough into small balls. Fill each ball with custard and chocolate chips, then shape into buns.
  • Place the buns on a baking sheet, cover them, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  • Allow the brioches to cool before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover brioches in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, consider freezing them.
