Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken thighs Use bone-in for extra flavor
  • 2 pieces apples (sweet and tart, such as Granny Smith or Fuji) Experiment with different types for desired sweetness
  • 1 piece onion
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • optional Fresh thyme for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper, then add to the skillet, cooking until browned on both sides (about 5-7 minutes per side).
  • Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook until translucent.
  • Add chopped apples and cook until they soften.

Cooking

  • Pour in apple cider and bring to a simmer.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and return the chicken to the skillet.
  • Simmer for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.

Serving

  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh thyme if desired. Present it on a large plate with the creamy sauce generously spooned over the chicken.

Notes

Pairs well with crusty bread, mashed potatoes, or fresh green beans. Can store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
