Filling

  • 4 large apples, sliced Use firm apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or ginger.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Topping

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and salt until evenly coated.
  • Pour the melted butter over the apple mixture and stir well.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour with the remaining sugar and cinnamon.
  • Sprinkle the flour mixture over the apples, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Baking

  • Place the apples in a greased baking dish and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and golden brown.

Serving

  • Serve warm, either by themselves or with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
