Dough ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water Ensure it's not too hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast Can substitute with instant yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar To activate the yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Topping ingredients

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Can substitute with 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions
 

Preparing the Dough

  • In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil; mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the dough to fit a baking sheet.
  • Make dimples in the dough with your fingers, then sprinkle with minced garlic, mozzarella, Parmesan, and parsley.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly. Serve warm.

Notes

This focaccia is best served warm and fresh out of the oven. Pair it with soups, salads, or enjoy it on its own. For a crispier crust, place a pan with water in the oven while baking.
