Ingredients

  • 1 cup pretzel snaps
  • 24 caramel squares, unwrapped
  • 2 cups Granny Smith apples, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped peanuts
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for apple soaking)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place pretzel snaps on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  • Place one caramel square on top of each pretzel snap.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes until caramels are soft and malleable.
  • While baking, core and cube the apples, then soak them in lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • Remove pretzels from the oven and press one apple cube into the top of each softened caramel.
  • Place the tray in the freezer for 5 minutes to firm up slightly.
  • Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the assembled bites and sprinkle with chopped peanuts before the chocolate sets.

Notes

Use firm apples like Granny Smith to maintain the best texture. You can substitute the chopped peanuts with almonds or walnuts if preferred. Store in the refrigerator if not serving immediately.
