Main ingredients

  • 4 slices French bread
  • 1 cup Shredded chicken Use leftover rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce Store-bought BBQ sauce works great.
  • 1 cup Cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella) Experiment with different types of cheese.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter For spreading on bread.

For serving

  • 1 cup Potato chips Crunchy potato chips make a great side.
  • 1 cup Fresh coleslaw A refreshing side that balances the dish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Spread butter on the outside of the French bread slices.
  • On the inside of one slice, layer shredded chicken mixed with BBQ sauce and cheese.
  • Top with another slice of bread, buttered side out.

Cooking

  • Place the sandwich in the skillet and grill until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Serving

  • Serve hot with potato chips or coleslaw.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or air fryer to re-crisp.
